Laparoscopic surgery is an advanced surgical technique that utilizes state-of-the-art equipment to perform minimally invasive surgery through tiny incisions. Minimally invasive surgery offers the advantages of reduced post- operative pain, shorter hospital stay and quicker recovery. There is also decreased risk of infection and hernia formation.     At RecoverHealth Bariatrics, minimally invasive surgery is performed by a laparoscopic fellowship trained surgeon. 	The Lap-Band system is performed laparoscopically as an outpatient-procedure and the patient returns home the same day. The gastric bypass patients also benefit from laparoscopic surgery but are observed in the hospital for 48 hours.
